(If you’re checking out a Trivialitycheck.com ‘Pop Quiz’ for the first time: Every Wednesday (or most, anyway) I post ten trivia questions, usually on some kind of theme. If you respond with answers or guesses, I’ll tell you your score. Send your answers to host@trivialitycheck.com with the title of this post as the subject line. The full set of answers is posted the following week, along with congratulations to the high scorer(s). No googling!)

In Shakespeare’s Hamlet (one of my top three favourite Hamlets) there’s a play within the play called “The Mousetrap”. It’s where the title of the long-running Agatha Christie play comes from.

But ole’ Will wasn’t the only one to use the device of a show-within-the-show. All of the titles below belong to fictitious TV programs, which featured on actual TV programs. Given the name of the show-within-the-show, name the … er… show. Well, that was a confusing sentence. But you got it, right?

Example: Given the clue “The Itchy & Scratchy Show”, you should answer “The Simpsons”. “They fight, they fight, they fight and fight and fight…”

Sometimes the shows were just things the characters watched, other times they were shows that characters worked on or appeared on.

1) Tool Time
2) Three different shows: Twilight Zone parody ‘The Scary Door’, soap-opera ‘All My Circuits’, and entrancing hit program ‘Everybody Loves Hypnotoad’.
3) The Girly Show
4) FYI
5) Chuckles The Clown
6) Wormhole X-Treme!
7) Public access call-in show ‘Jesus And Pals’, innapropriate kid’s cartoon ‘The Terrence & Philip Show’.
8) Up Late With Miss Piggy (careful with the title here…)
9) Wake Up, San Fransisco
10) Viking Quest
